Archived Project Grades K-12 This project ran from 2000 - 2003. It is now an archived project. Co-nect no longer runs the online portion of the project. However, teachers and fitness professionals can still access the fitness curriculum and participate in the activities offline. Get ready...Get set...Go! Join students across the country as they get in shape during Kids N' Fitness, a Co-nect project promoting health and wellness in K-12 classrooms across the country. Kids N' Fitness has two online activities: Create an Athlete which runs from March 7 through April 30, 2003 and Co-nexercise which runs from May 7-14, 2003. | | | | | | What does it take to be an Olympic caliber athlete? In this activity, students learn about the athletic training, fitness, nutrition, sportsmanship, and other factors that contribute to the development of an Olympian. Students use the knowledge they've acquired to create a fictitious athlete using the online form and publish their athletes to the site. | | | | How fit are your students? How much can you exercise in one week? During Co-nexercise Week, May 7-14, students track the amount of time they exercise and compete virtually with other classrooms across the country. Watch updates on the real-time map as the results roll in, May 15 and 16. The top ten fittest classrooms will receive Kids 'N Fitness sports gear. | | | | | | | | View the profiles from student-created athletes -- the results of the Create an Athlete activity. | | | | Students can view the results of the Co-nexercise event to see who is exercising the most. Watch a real-time map as the entries come in to see who is pumping it up. | | | Project Award | |
